Biography:
Black Canary, as portrayed within the Arrowverse of The CW television network, is a mantle taken up by multiple characters. The first to appear was Laurel Lance, played by Katie Cassidy. Initially a lawyer and Oliver Queen's former girlfriend, Laurel's journey leads her to become a skilled fighter, inspired by her brief training and the example of other vigilantes.
After Laurel's tragic death, her sister, Sara Lance (also previously a Black Canary) and others continue her legacy. Later, Dinah Drake assumes the Black Canary mantle. Dinah is a metahuman with a powerful sonic scream, mirroring the traditional comic book power of the character. She joins Team Arrow and develops her own fighting style, striving to uphold the principles of justice and protect Star City.
